Florida Miata Cruise In – November 9th

We are two weeks away from the Cruise In to Summer Crush Winery in Fort Pierce. If you plan on attending, I would appreciate it if you signed up under the Cruise In event this week, http://www.southfloridamiata.com/events/summer-crush-winery-miata-cruise-in/ ,  so I can advise the winery how many cars to expect that day. Looking forward to a fun day and seeing everyone there.

      Miata Is Always The Answer….

From humble beginnings in the form of British roadsters, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has grown through four generations to establish itself as the widely accepted king of cheap, easy, fun to drive cars.

Ease of maintenance and modification built the MX-5 Miata into the garage tinkerer’s dream, and its lightweight chassis, 50/50 weight distribution, and and terrific handling have cemented it as the unofficial SCCA track car king.

Remember, no matter the question, Miata is the answer.

Miata Is Still Always The Answer!

Two seats, rear-wheel drive, a manual transmission, some sticky tires, and enough power to light em up when the urge strikes. The basic ingredients of a sports car haven’t changed much over the years, and if you’re lucky enough to have a large pile of cash, there are quite a few brilliant examples available today. Unfortunately, for most of us, these pinnacles of automotive performance are all but out of reach.

Sure, we have plenty of sports sedans, hot hatches, muscle cars, and even SUVs that claim to be sporty—all of which are also available for less than a fortune. But a true sports car for the masses is sadly becoming rarer.

Luckily, Mazda continues to build the torchbearer for affordable performance. Now in its fourth and arguably best generation, the MX-5 Miata is pretty much the go-to answer for driving enjoyment on a budget.

Not to be outdone by their Japanese neighbor, Toyota and Subaru entered into a partnership over a decade ago to develop their own small, affordable sports car. Sold as the Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, and now Toyota 86, the Toybaru has gained a loyal following of enthusiasts, many of whom take advantage of a thriving aftermarket to mod their cars.

The recent introduction of a TRD Special Edition model to the 86, as well as an updated engine for the MX-5 Miata, provided an excellent rationale to test these two cars and see which is best.

This Is How You Zoom Zoom

Today nearly 2000 Miata’s got together at Elvington Airfield in York, UK in an attempt to break the world  record for the most Miata’s together in one place. Looks like they had a lot of fun.

Great drone footage video of the event here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tU8DFkokMtw&fbclid=IwAR0P9-H4A_cYNnPGaONu0jAk240GuhlCiGAtAkiyUfIEPMQFvU7uVHceyVc&app=desktop

Tan Tonneau Cover fits Mazda Miata NA 1990-1997

Miata Tonneau Cover. This item is used, but it looks like new. No stains, spots, rips, or tears. Would probably look less wrinkled if I left it outside in the sun for a while.

I just purchased the 1995 Miata M-Edition seen in the picture, and the cover came with the car. The front dash clips are included, but the mirror plates are not. There are nylon straps with snaps that can be purchased to wrap around the mirror base at naval supply stores.

            $200.00 or best offer.

CHICAGO (February 7, 2019) – In 1989 the Chicago Auto Show played host to one of Mazda’s biggest milestones, the debut of the MX-5 Miata. Now, 30 years later, Mazda is proud to share another milestone at the Chicago Auto Show with the world premiere of the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary.

Continuing to embrace the philosophy of the original 1989 MX-5 Miata, this special edition represents three decades of history. A history that has been filled with so many people, from the passionate Mazda engineers who created the first-generation MX-5 as a homage to early lightweight European sportscars, to the succeeding development engineers who took up the challenge to build on the high ambitions of their predecessors. Collectively, they all helped the MX-5 reach amazing heights, from being the first car to win both World Car of the Year and World Design of the Year in the same year with the current generation MX-5 Miata in 2016, to achieving production of one millionth units in April 2016. In total, the MX-5 has won over 280 awards, as of January 2019, with many of those accolades thanks to the unshakable support of Mazda owners and fans all over the world. This special edition is meant to commemorate all these milestones and the important people that have been part of this special journey, especially Mazda’s enthusiastic fans.

The 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary, offered in both soft top and RF models, builds upon the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Grand Touring, which added many new features including a newly refined powertrain rated to deliver 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque; a 17 percent increase over the previous model year. The first noticeable new feature is the exclusive Racing Orange exterior paint color. This strikingly vivid color pays homage to the yellow MX-5 Miata Club Racer that also debuted at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show. Racing Orange is meant to represent sunrise and anticipation, while staying true to the characteristics of a pure sports car. The roof on RF is painted Racing Orange, while the soft top will feature a black cloth top. The theme continues to the interior with orange interior louvers and orange piping on the heated RECARO sports seats. The seats in this special edition are wrapped in Alcantara, which is also found in the door inserts and lower instrument panel. All of these features help to further enhance the customer’s sense of exclusivity and pride of ownership.

To contrast the brilliant color, the new RAYS ZE40 17-inch Dark Gunmetal forged alloy wheels play up the MX-5’s driving legacy. Customers may notice these wheels are based on the Global MX-5 Cup Car, further connecting the iconic roadster’s anniversary edition to its racing roots.

Standard in all 2019 Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary models are Apple CarPlayTM and Android AutoTM infotainment technologies. Also standard is SiriusXM with three-month subscription and new SiriusXM three-year Traffic Plus and Travel Link® subscription.

No special edition would be complete without the appropriate badging. Each 2019 Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary model will be affixed with a special “30th Anniversary” serialized badging on the driver’s side rear quarter panel to help commemorate 30 years of endless gratitude and unbending determination to keep evolving.

Production of 2019 Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary model will be limited to a total of just 3,000 units worldwide. In the U.S., there will be a total of 500 non-sequentially badged units available through a custom build to order website at http://www.mazdausa.com/30th-anniversary. Owners can order their 2019 Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition model as either a soft top or RF with either a manual or automatic transmission. Orders can be placed starting on 2/7 at 12 p.m. CST.

Cars For Cancer Journeys Road Rally

Here’s an interesting Miata them road trip: raising awareness of prostate cancer beginning on August 15, 2018.

“My name is Robert Hess, I’m a 15-year prostate cancer survivor, and I’m reaching out to car clubs across the US and Europe about the 2018 Tour de USA road rally world record attempt beginning August 26th in Los Angeles.

I’m donating 23 days this summer crossing the western United States and back for prostate cancer awareness. The goal save the lives of the 27,000 men who die every year from prostate cancer.”

World Record Road Rally Attempt for Prostate Cancer Survivors

The rally begins in Los Angeles on August 26th and goes to St. George, Utah, Durango, Colorado, Pikes Peak, Colorado, Kansas City, Kansas, Lincoln, Nebraska, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Little Big Horn, Montana, Boise, Idaho, Eugene, Oregon, Thunderhill Raceway at Willows, California, Santa Rosa, California, Laguna Seca, California, Santa Ynez, California, finishing in Manhattan Beach, California on September 19th.

This is an all-volunteer project. Registration proceeds go to the Cancer Journeys Foundation (http://www.CancerJourneys.org) to support their free prostate cancer early detection system (prostatetrackerapp.com).

We are after a dual world record: 1) the longest charity road rally (pretty much in the bag) and 2) the largest charity road rally – most participants (we really need support!!!) We’re reaching out to 452 auto enthusiast clubs with an estimated total membership of just over 12,000 members. So, we can do it.
